MRI/MRA - Patient Preparation and Instructions

Please bring your insurance information on the day of your exam.

You will be asked if you have ever had a bullet or shrapnel in your body, or ever worked with metal.  If there is any question of metal fragments, you may be asked to arrive early to your appointment to have an x-ray that will detect any such metal objects.

You will be asked to remove anything that might degrade MRI images of the head, including hairpins, jewelry, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and any removable dental work.

Again, so as not to degrade the images, you may be asked to change into a gown that will have no metal such as zippers, snaps, hooks, buckles or buttons.

The staff may ask you about your medical history, including previous surgeries and symptoms related to the area of interest being imaged.

You may take any prescription medications as usual unless otherwise instructed.

Please notify the staff at our offices if you might be pregnant.
